Hollinwood A conceded a 42 pt start to Werneth B and went on to win by 10 points. With the result in doubt all the way, Hollinwood finally got the upper hand mainly thanks to a 42 points gain from Wayne Renton with John DePledge and Simon Hardwick playing their part. Phil Myers gained 19 points for the losers.
Hollinwood C, despite receiving 88 points start from Hyde YMCA A, went down by 42 points. Lionel Royle was outstanding for Hyde, gaining 53 points, ably
assisted by Steve Lyons (44) and Geoff Ogden ( 34 ).
OTTC A visited Uppermill A and came away with an emphatic 84 points victory, having given their hosts a 14 point start. Dave Griffith amassed a huge 72 point gain with Rebekah gaining 37 points
.
Honeywell B hosted Hyde YMCA B having a 54 points start and thanks to an outstanding display by Ian Naylor, who gained 12 points, they managed to win by 18 points in an excellent match. Nick Bakewell played well for the losers, gaining 38 points.
First Transport went into their game with Unison A with a 9 points start and thanks to gains by Kenny Hayes (46) and Tommy Ryan (22) they managed to extend their winning margin to 59 points.
Failsworth A, with a 20 points start, defeated Honeywell Lane C by 26 points thanks mainly to Rob Carter who gained 48 points. The 33 points gain by Honeywell’s Brian Higgins was to no avail.
Hollinwood E got the better of Coldhurst A by 56 points, having started 40 points ahead. Andy NcNabb gained 20 points for the winners, with Simon King (13) being the only Coldhurst player to claw anything back.
The game between Honeywell Lane D and Werneth D was decided on the last game of the night. Werneth were 6 points behind going into the doubles but managed to overturn the deficit to win by 8 points. Mick Pellowe and Alan Else both gained 25 points for the winners who overcame the 27 points handicap deficit.
Failsworth C found giving Gilders B a 20 points start too much, eventually going down by19 points. Mark Craven gained 30 points and Fred Wood 9 points in an impressive Gilders performance.
The inter club match between Werneth E and Werneth F Resulted in a 33 point victory for the E team. Darren Mitzi gained 39 points and Brian Micklethwaite 33 points whilst Alan Wynne excelled with a 20 point gain for the losers.
The all round strength of Failsworth E was too much for Coldhurst F, overturning a 69 points deficit to win by 44 points with gains by Dave Murphy (16), Fred
Pickles (56) and Alan Nightingale (35).
Uppermill C, with a start of 72 points, held their own to beat Coldhurst D by 53 points. Murray Corbin was outstanding for the losers gaining 23 points.
The youngsters of Failsworth F, after a rocky start, made a good recovery and went on to beat Honeywell Lane F by 25 points. Gains by Joe Crawley (10) and Callum Jones (4) along with the 35 point handicap start, was enough. Ronnie Holt was in outstanding form for the losers gaining 29 points.

The top match of the week was the clash between promotion rivals Unison A and Grotton A, which saw Unison get the better of their rivals 6-4. Paul Howarth, Peter Ashworth and Liaqat Ali won two sets each, with Stuart Sykes replying with two wins for Grotton.
Werneth C moved back to the top of the division after an emphatic 10-0 defeat of Uppermill B. Mandy Winskill, Bernard Davies and Doreen Schofield were all
unbeaten.
At the other end of the table Failsworth A moved away from the relegation places after a 7-3 victory over Unison B. Rob Carter recorded three wins and Philip Moran two wins for Failsworth. John Maher replied with two wins for Unison.
In the inter club battle between Hollinwood E and Hollinwood D honours were even after a 5-5 draw. The E team might feel a little aggrieved as Ron Mitchell had to retire in his second game with what appeared to be a serious ankle injury.
Bottom team Pennine went down to another heavy defeat losing 10-0 to a strong Honeywell C Team.
Gilders march towards the title continues after a 9-1 defeat of Honeywell D, while the next six places are covered by seven points.
Grotton B moved into second place after a 6-4 victory over Unison D. Alf Barker and Steve Smith wining two sets each for Grotton while Steve Slater and Mike O’Gara replied with two wins each for Unison.
Owls A slipped down to third place after going down to a 7-3 defeat against fifth placed Unison C. Dave Hanson was unbeaten for Unison.
Failsworth B moved into fourth place after defeating Coldhurst C 10-0.
Coldhurst B fared better than their C team by defeating Failsworth C 8-2.
Second placed Uppermill C were surprisingly held to a 5-5 draw by mid-table Saddleworth CC. Jim Bradbury was unbeaten for Uppermill C while
Alex Griffiths won two sets for Saddleworth.
Coldhurst D stay clear at the top after an 8-2 win over Werneth F, with three wins for Peter Altham and two each for David Varney and Neil Chapman. Alan Wynn had two wins for Werneth.
Rosehill B did their chances of avoiding relegation a power of good with a6-4 defeat of mid table Uppermill A. There were two wins each for Andy Perry
Bob Moores and Warwick Francis of Rosehill, while Glen Hewitt was unbeaten for Uppermill.
Second place Aerospace A defeated Hollinwood B 7-3 in an excellent match, Tom Lang winning his three sets for Aerospace.
Leaders Glodwick just got the better of Honeywell Lane A. Dave Hamilton, playing his first game of the season, won two sets for Honeywell while
Mark Ramsbottom was unbeaten for Glodwick.
Bottom side Hollinwood C gave a battling performance before going down to a 7-3 defeat by Werneth B for whom Eddie Darlington was unbeaten.
OTTC A were 6-4 winners over Hollinwood A with a maximum from Dave Griffith, a double from Rebekah Griffith and a single from Ann Godwin.

In the first fixtures after the Christmas break the big match was between the bottom two clubs, Aerospace B and Rosehill B. The 6-4 victory for Rosehill moved them out of the bottom two. Ian Stott, Andy Perry and Warwick Francis all won 2 sets for Rosehill with Kevin Hill unbeaten for Aerospace.
At the other end of the table the top two both had emphatic 10-0 victories. Glodwick defeated Hollinwood B and Aerospace A defeated Hollinwood C.
In the inter club clash Werneth A defeated Werneth B 10-0.
Uppermill A continued their excellent first season in the top flight with an 8-2 defeat of Rosehill A. Gary Crossley had 3 wins for Uppermill and Glen Hewitt and Mark Simpson each contributed 2 wins.
In the top of the table battle second placed Werneth C defeated leaders Unison A 6-4, with 2 wins each from Bernard Davies and Paul Wilkinson. Paul Howarth and Craig Oldfield replied with 2 wins each for Unison.
Third placed Grotton A kept up their pursuit of promotion with a 9-1 victory against Honeywell B with maximums from Stuart Sykes, Steve Oliver and Dave Morris. Fourth placed Honeywell Lane C only just managed to get the better of lowly Coldhurst A 6-4. Barrie Royle and Peter Buckley notched up 2 wins each for Honeywell, with Simon King remaining unbeaten for Coldhurst.
Bottom side Pennine lost 8-2 to Hollinwood E in a game that was closer than the score suggests. Ron Mitchell and Andy MacNab were both unbeaten for the victors.
In the inter club match Gilders A continued their march towards promotion with an 8-2 victory over the B team. Adi Ewelia’s impressive form continued with another 3 wins while Mark Craven enhanced his growing reputation with 2 more wins.
A very entertaining game between second placed Owls A and fourth placed Grotton B saw Grotton run out 6-4 victors. Alf Barker and Steve Smith had 2 wins each and Alan Sarsfield 1 win for Grotton. Owls replied with two wins from Dave Harthan and one each from Philip Hall and Paul Woodward, the match being decided by the doubles.
Failsworth C remain bottom after their 7-3 loss to Honeywell D. Allan Marston, Ken Dunkerley and Derek Naylor won 2 sets each for Honeywell while Steve Collins replied with 2 wins for Failsworth.
Coldhurst C helped their chances of avoiding relegation with a 6-4 win over Unison D.
Coldhurst D’s relentless
surge to the Div 4 championship continued with an 8-2 defeat of OTTC B. Peter
Altham contributed 3 wins and Dave Varney and Neil Chapman 2 each.
Second placed Honeywell F were also in impressive form defeating Failsworth E 10-0 with wins from Ronnie Holt, Lee Rowbotham and Michael Ganley.
In an excellent inter club match between Coldhurst E and Coldhurst F 3 wins each from Dave England and Edwin Che secured the victory for the E team.
Werneth F and Owls B shared
a very close encounter with the Owls coming out victors 6-4. Philip Tamworth
was unbeaten for Owls.
